The Godmother of Punk and Her Visual Genius

VMAN magazine pays tribute to rock history icons Robert Mapplethorpe and Patti Smith
in an editorial shoot for their 20th issue which was photographed by Christian Brylle
who alongside modeled with supermodel Freja Beha Erichsen.

Robert Mapplethorpe was a famous American Photographer who was known for his polaroid shots
and his large scaled black and white photographs of flowers, nudity, and icons such as Andy Warhol, Richard Gere, Deborah Harry,
and "Godmother of Punk" herself, Patti Smith, who incidentally shared something more than just a few photo shoots with the famed photographer.
The two were inseparable and was said to have an "intense romantic relationship" despite their problems with poverty and Mapplethrope's gender sexuality.

Well, doesn't that make things all the more interesting?
